Don, one question, how did your cat get in the box? LOL that is funny! Hi Nathan. It wasn't staged. I can't have an open model box around her. She crawls into every one. I made the mistake of leaving the Lindberg Dodge 700/flatbed combo on the floor. When I got home from work I found out she had figured out how to open up the donut box, pushed the 40 Ford out of it and was sleeping between the truck and trailer. Even though she goes 13 lbs, she is very delicate in her motions. Nothing was broken! Her 16 lb brother is more like a dog. I have several blown out box tops and a crushed Accord wagon kit when he tries to "settle" his fat butt into a model box.

I have always liked those Studebaker Avantis, a guy at a church I used to attend before I saw the Light and met the Living God, had one his was red with a Corinthina leather interior. Me too. The Aurora kit was one of my all time wants. I'd seen several of them on evil-bay but they always went for too much. I was delighted when I got this one off the 'bay for under $35 including shipping. I was even more delighted when it arrived. I've purchased new kits off the shelf that weren't in as good condition as this one.

Just got back from the LHS and the reissue of the '30 Touring wwas just being stocked, along with the Tijuana Taxi. Standart Revell pricing, just under $25 each. The upside of the '30 Touring is the addition of new headlights and wheels. The headlights are the E&J style with the turn signals mounted on the headlight bucket. The wheels are wires not the worst that Revell has ever produced. But a long way from even beginning to compare to those from the '32 Sedan. They will sell more based on the addition of the new headlight then if it were a straight reissue. I picked these up at the IPMS show a couple of weekends ago. The Corvette was started by someone who thought that a tube of glue on each joint was a good thing. But, for $5, I figured if it was just for 1/16 scale parts it was still a good deal. I figured the Mercedes had to be better then the AMT disaster of the SL300 Gull Wing Coupe and at $10 I figured it could be a parts donor to the Gull Wing if need be. Hosted on FotkiBuying model car kits at an IPMS event feels like taking advantage of the seller as most of them have no clue of the value of the car kits they have. I let them tell me what they want for it then pay them and smile.

Great report on the Touring, but a tad bit short... Are there any of the racing parts still in the kit from the earlier release?

Wes, unfortunately, the parts from the early edition of the Touring are not in this issue. Short of the new chrome tree it's a straight up reissue of the Early Iron Series from the early '70s. I would have loved to have opened the box to find the speed/racing parts from the first edition, but sadly that not the case. Other then the new Chrome pieces that tires are the only other change. They are the same big/little tires that Revell has been using in the '32 Ford series for the past decade+. Hosted on FotkiThe new wire wheels are interesting, but I'm not sure if there is a 1:1 that they are patterned after or it's someone at Revell just imagineering them. The 5 bolt caps at the far right of the second photo cover the axle ends of the inner wheel half at the center of the photo. Then the outer half of the wheels, to the left, in the photo are the outside portion to complete the 3 piece wheels. I think if you were to buy the kit for the wire wheels you'd be money ahead if you bought the '32 Sedan. They may be ok once they are stripped and painted some reasonable color, but it's doubtful they will get used straight from the kit. The worst part of the new pricing is that you can still buy the Early Iron Series for $15-$20 at most swap meets and the new issue is $24.75. So, it's a question of do you want the kit for the new chrome tree or can you live with a body molded in red instead of one molded in white? I guess it could be worse, it could be like AMT's recent reissue of the decades old '57 Chevy. Raise the price to $17 and take all the race and custom pieces out of the kit leaving only the stock version in the box. Not the way to win friends and influence people.

Great score on the 300 Dave.
Thanks for the mini review and pics of the touring. I'll have to pick one up for the lights (with a cupon of course)! LOL.

Not sure exactly what to call this, but just giving ya'll the facts here It's not exactly a model, more of a crafty type sculpture of one of my favorite WWI aeroplanes: the Fokker EIII monoplane. Not sure if'n somebody in a factory made it, or it's a one off metal sculpture some one person made. Here it is 'in flight' in my front yard Close up of the cockpit. Close up of the rudder showing the constuction technique, using a torch to cut out the metal for some parts and the cross cut out differently. Close up of the non-prototypical prop and...... ....the music box mechanism that's hidden away in the cowl! ;D ;D Yes friends! It's a Fokker EIII music box! Wind the prop and it plays "I honestly love you"-- seriously! Who woulda made such a thing? and why? Like I said, the Fokker EIII is one of my faves, and I was at a Goodwill type store and saw it-- for $5 it was added to my collection Later and God bless
