Totally amazing Brother Wes, I never would have considered butting the hood sides up to the curvature in the cowl. The Lincoln flatty will be quite the departure from the 'Standard' Hot Rod Flathead.
Blessings

Blessings Thank you, Brother This has turned out to be a very interesting mix of parts and a bit of a technical challenge. Having to work on different areas of the body knowing what needs to be completed before hand because of what will have to remain structurally intact so it won't come apart on me later. The pictures only tell part of the story! Have a very Blessed day in the Lord...

Wes:
That is turning into quite a nice little rod. Can't wait to see how it turns out in the end.

Stay tuned, Dave... (even though the end is not near) Here's a shot after the temporary bracing has been added to the Saltster that will only remain while modifing the cowl: Hosted on FotkiA closer shot of the modified '34 cowl being added above the '29 cowl that will be cut away after the '34 hood is converted to fit the new configuration: Hosted on FotkiMore to come! Where's the putty? Nice, clean, exacting work you do Brother Wes! Can't wait to see the next installment. Later and God bless Putty! I don't use no stinkin' putty!! (Except when absolutely needed...) While constructing a highly modified piece, like the Saltster, I'll use cut plastic and super glue to fill needed areas. Often times I'll lay down a drop of super glue and add plastic powder (from a sanding stick) to the drop and press it down flat to fill a small indentation or void. I'll use putty to finish off surface blends... I'll be doing that after I add the belt line around the body and into the hood. Here's where I am today on the build: Hosted on FotkiSaltster frame, Lincoln V-12 & '34 radiator and the body profiled behind... Other than the carbs it looks like it'll fit!?. Hosted on FotkiSaltster frame, Lincoln V-12 & '34 radiator in front of the body Hosted on FotkiSaltster body mock up RF view Hosted on FotkiSaltster body mock up RS view Think the wide whites will have to go... More progress to follow!!! Have a very Blessed week ahead

Cooler every time, Wes. Thanks for the updates! Thanks, John... Here's a couple of questions from another forum: "How are you planning on handling the carb issue? Are you going to do a scoop in the hood or are you going to do a slot with the carbs sticking through? Or, maybe do a setup like on the HemRod?" Well, I'll be handling the carb issue after I get the hood in place and see what kind of room I'll be dealing with. I'll be putting off completing the hood though as all the bracing and the ol' '29 cowl have to be removed before I can start to do the fitting. That being said, I need to move on to putting the running gear under it. And, getting the final mounting location for the body, hood sides and narrowed deuce grille shell established and pinned before the real work can even be started on the hood. I'm as excited to see it with the hood on as you are! Here are a couple of my thoughts on the frame, suspension and drive-train: You brought up the question about the headers... stay with the stock ones cast on the V-12 block or make custom ones? A very simple way to do the frame, suspension, drive-train and headers would be to leave the stock headers on the V-12 block; not chop through the Bic lighter/Bic shell for the drive-shaft tunnel and hide it all with a belly pan. The frame would still run from the back inside of the roadster body forward to the grille shell, though. This is more of an exercise in custom body work than doing a highly detailed build with all of the running gear. What do you think? In His Name be Blessed

Now come on Brother Wes is the any such things as to severe a chop? Not in my book, I'm loving it. In Christ Had that same comment out on our Fotki site... that the "chop" may not have been severe enough! So, with that in mind, the chopped top is now a Hard-Shell Tonneau Cover: Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiHere's the filled & smoothed tonneau cover & the narrowed deuce grille shell: Hosted on FotkiThe tonneau will be opened up for both the driver and the passenger riding shoot gun after the belly pan is in place. More film and fun to come!! Have a very Blessed day... KK

I am glad you are opening the Tannuoe for ergonomic reasons . I was under the impression a periscope was about ot appear for the driver to lay flat in a convoluted fasion and forget about the passenger . Keep this WIP coming . Thanx..
