I've been working on a little project I started a couple years ago after my son moved into his new house. We found a bunch of balsa wood blocks that the previous owner had left in his old workbench area. I was lookin at them one day and just started cutting on one of them and out came this here 32ish looking body, and I figured I'd try and make me a totally wooden model car. After it sat for a good year, 'something' made me want to give it another go, so I put it back on the bench, as "Granny's Trannys" parts chaser. Was following my idea of going all wood with it, but finally gave in to the plastic. Here's Granny's original ride inspiration. After looking at that big hunka balsa, and trying to fill the pores on the balsa wood 'tires' with endless puttying and sanding.... decided to see ifn' I couldn't talk Granny into a chopped 5window '25ish T coupe........and she agreed! PTL! So, I's gonna be scratchin'--yes friends, I said 'scratchbuilding' the T body outa plastic. Ya'll can't see, but I's rubbing me hands togethers in glee!!!!! So here's where we are right now. Since incorporating the plastic, we already have a totally scratched front axle & leaf spring what we're looking to hang on the front of the woody frame. Mo' pix to come, but ifn' yer interested heres the clinker to me fotki album devoted to Granny's ride: public.fotki.com/V866/grannys-trannys-par/Later, and God bless

Glad you be likin' it Flow. Funny, cool, and finally mo' groovy-like is how this here buildem up is sooooo much like my walk with the Lord. For so long I was so determined to do things my way and so many times my way always turned out badly. HE has helped me so much to be not quite so hard-headed (just crazy ) and to be mo' open to HIS leading me. Like I said, I probably spent close to 3 weeks putting Elmers wood putty on them balsa wood tires--them big meats & the skinnies. Putty 'em up, sand 'em down, putty 'em up, sand 'em down, putty 'em up, sand 'em down, putty 'em up, sand 'em down......... and seemingly not getting anywhere. Kept thinking ahead at times about having to do the same with that ol' 32 body, and after scopin' out ol' GrampsXrd's stash of T bodies & half built Ts, I figured I'd just try and build up my own chopped 5window coupe, since I be scratchin' most everything else, and aint really sure what scale this is, so I caint be grabbing no body out of a kit Yep, I's looking forward to the build up too, and been 'working' on it in my mind. Just decided not long ago to do the open roof thing on it, so's I can be showing off the interior In the meantimes, I's plenty busy, & happy, building up the running gear. This here rim for them big meats was made outa one of my no longer needed medicine bottle, some Rubbermaid styrene, sprue for the valve, and a slice of water pipe for the ring thing in there. Here's Granny's totally scratched front axle & leaf springy assembly. The beam gonna be drilled out for lightness, and I'll be adding wishbones to tie it to the frame. No shocks, but I thought about 'em. Right now, I just started fabbing up a hanger to 'weld' to that bent up crossmember I added, so's that spring will have a place to bolt up to. Yep, the spindlies were scratched too. Me likes building front ends.......A LOT! We's going with the original 'wood' rear end, but for the quick change thing, I'm skinning it with thin styrene from a 'FOR SALE' sign. Can't decide whether or nots to have some gears showing or put the cover on Yep, havin' more fun letting The Lord tell me how to buildem up ol' Grannys ride, so it gonna be waaay coool . Ya'll stay tuned now, ya hear? Later and God bless

God is helping me with the OCD, limiting my time at the bench. Weird how it 'seems' that spending less time there I gets more done , but ya know......"all things work together for good for those who love God......." , so things're workin' fer me & Granny both ;D Got to fabbin' up a hanger fer Granny's scratchy front axe Here it am in place & first 'welds' applied Borrowed one of Granny's BIG clothespins for to clamp her axe in place---lookin' purty goodly Borrowed a couple bolts off'n ol' SKWIRLYs so's we could attach Granny's axe mo' propers like. Yessir, lookin' goodly Had a wee bit of time the other day to start on her wishbones---got to play with me favorite tool also--- the torch!! Lookin' forwards to gettin' her axe all bolted up. Later and God bless

John, this is just to cool. I do know what you're talking about getting more accomplished with less time spent at the bench. But, then I knew a guy in Denver who build one of the most beautiful model railroads I'd ever seen. He worked on it from 6:00 to 6:15, 5 days a week. The project was finished in just under a year. One of these days I'll be that organized. I spend 15 minutes just remembering where I put the tool from the night before.

Well fellers, been a while, and had to be chasin' some parts for ol' Granny's parts chaser ;D. This buildem up is starting to eat up a lot of them little bolts & nuts, so I finally got to me LHS, and resisted the very strong urge to buy 2 or 3 or more new kits. Just got me little bolts, and some tubing, and I was outa there! Anyhow, finally got time this morning and sat down, took all them temporary bolts outa Granny's front end and put the new, correct length bolts in. Also fabbed up a couple big rubber washer/bumper things for where her 'bones attach to her frame. Oh yeah, since I found some cool bolts for the spindlies, I started with them- had to ream out the holes so the new bolts would fit one done! whole axle assembley bolted up God is sooooo good! them little nuts are VERY little, and I needed something to help tighten them up, so when I was looking at all the bolts & nuts I needed, HE showed me this here wrench they sell for the little nuts. Believe it or not, but on the stand there are nuts almost half this size! one of the rubber bumper/washer thingees for where the wishbones attach to the frame also got me a clampy thing, think they're called 'hemostats', but whatever, sure helps to hold the bolt while the neat little wrench tightens up the nut. Ya'll can be seein' the orange rubber bumper in place there too here's a closem up of the business end of them hemostats here's a closem up of the front end all bolted to the frame it's comin' along............trying to figure out how to hang the rear end Later and God bless
