Before I built service station dioramas , I must have built at least a hundred different gasoline pumps in 1/24th scale . I had to enter them in the miselianious and sci fy catagories at I P M S because no one has yet relented and done a Petrolina catagory yet . Still, since I have been asked by a couple of folks about just what I have , I'm sharing a couple of " Rare " ones , a Grotken and a Fleckenstein . Both companies made parts for competing pump manufacturers and both started in the early teens , 1911 and died in the late twenties , Fleckenstein 1927 Here is a 1921 10 gallon Grotken : Grotken manufactured from 1911 to 1927 The second is a 10 gallon Fleckenstein model 110 H . This was one of the few models that was free standing as J Fleckenstein was known more for the " Wall mounted " pumps his company did . Only the viaable attachment was shown . These Wall- Mounted units could be built within a station where the archetectural designs dictated that pumps not be seen from a distance . They also had a Twin vewrsion of both their 5 and ten gallon visable pumps which are very collectable today as not many were ever manufactured . Ed Shaver
