Our Wednesday Night Bible Study is going to start he Book of Hebrews this evening. Last night as I was doing some prep for this new study. I was looking through my Study Bible, one of the sections prior to Hebrews 1:1 is called Megathemes. The second theme is called 'High Priest', here is what it says under the Explanation.
'In the Old Testament, the high priest represented the Jews before God. Jesus Christ links us with God. There is no other way to reach God. Because Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, He is the perfect substitute to die for our sins. He is our perfect representative with God.'
As I read through this, I had to stop and reread that section as i wasn't sure that I had read it correctly. But, I had, Jesus Christ links us WITH God! Not, Jesus Christ links us to God, but, links us with God.
The high priests represented the Jews before God, Jesus Christ links us directly to God.
Some of you may be going 'Did you just figure that out Dave?' The answer is no, but, every once in a while the Spirit of God gives you a different understanding of God's Word. I found it to be so profound that by changing a single word can change how we connect to God.
What new understanding of God's Word has the Holy Spirit given you lately?
