I know,I know I need another project like a hole in the head, but, why not. With the release of the Revell '32 5 Window Coupe I figured I needed to find a suitable subject for the first build of this kit that is bound to be kit of the year. So I went searching Rod & Custom, Street Rodder Magazines and several other photo sites. I wanted a subject that would use a lot of the new parts that Revell added to the 5 Window kit such as the '40 dash etc, A subject that used parts from past Revell '32 offerings wouldn't be a bad thing either. Here is the subject of the first '32 5 Window off Fletch's bench, George Poteet's '32 5 Window Coupe. Hosted on FotkiThe only major variance from Revell '32 Ford offerings will be the Thunderbird mill which will be one of the two from the Roth Mysterion. The wire wheels will come from the "32 Sedan. I may have to source the tires from either Replica and Miniatures of Maryland or Modelhaus. The fact that this is a stock height 5 Window will be a massive departure from my normal building style. The only other serious change is that the frame is pinched at the radiator shroud. The chassis is noticeably narrower then stock at the front spreader bar. The wire wheels are in the Isopropl Alcohol to strip the chrome, the chassis has been prepped and awaits the saw blade to narrow the chassis. The Mysterion will be on the way from Michigan this weekend. Stay tuned! Peace

This car should have been the "Box Art" for the '32 5W!

This car should have been the "Box Art" for the '32 5W! With out a doubt, I came across 3 different '32 5 Windows that would have been great cars for the box art for the kit. I found 25 possible subjects for the kit just looking through the feature cars on the Rod & Custom and Street Rodder websites. If this kit doesn't end op the domestic kit of the year I will be shocked. Now if we can get someone to master and sell the E&J headlights we'll have it made.

That is one sweet ride to base your model. As for the headlights,do the masters yourself. In order to build my sprintcars the way I want them,I've had to master alot of stuff myself because there was no one else to do it. Stretched my scratch building skills and then some. Made me a better modeler.

Got a bit done on the coupe today. Pinching the chassis down to the width of the radiator shell isn't that big a deal. The area from the lines out to the frame rails was removed. The remainder of the cross member was then reinstalled in the frame. Pulled the wire wheels out of the isopropyl and scrubbed them out a bit, they need a second trip through the alcohol as they're not as clean as I'd like them to be. The front axle was modified using the Tim Boyd drop method of cutting the mounting pads down to allow the mounting tab to sit higher in the frame. Here is the initial mock-up using the kit tires, they will be replaced by the tires from the Revell '29 Pickup for the actual build, of course the white wall inserts will be painted. Hosted on FotkiThe firewall is taped in at this point as the kit firewall will be replaced by a RMoM "Stock" '32 piece.

Another source for an engine would be a Parts Pac . My LHS might , no , probably still have these . Please let me know if you would rather use one of these instead of parts out a full kit . I'll find the costs of getting one of those . Thanx ..
