Glad to hear the missing fly-away part turned up... had you already started the replacement piece? Would it have been any other way. I had already cut and shaped the inner piece so I could get the lip effect for the window sill and was working on the outer skin when I hear the Maine Coon Mix meowing. You can always tell when he has something in his mouth because his meow is muffled. I went to check and sure enough he had the piece. He then spent the rest of the evening sitting next to the desk staring at me like, 'Dude, you took my toy!'

8-)That's lookin' cool Dave. Absolutely love them wheels & tires-- they staying? Love the yellow! Glad you found your missing piece Later & God bless Yes, Indeed Brother John the Steelies and Wide Whites are staying. The same with the color. The plan is that the body will be the same color with a white roof insert. I just have to decide if I want to make it a full roof or just the middle of the roof insert. I built the Caddy mill from the Revell '49 Merc to go into the coupe. The carbs need to be upgraded and a set of headers built but otherwise it's pretty nice. I painted it according to the kit instructions which called for the long block to be gold and the trans to be steel. The Alcald Pale Gold does not work as well as their other paints so I picked up a bottle of Testors Acrylic Gold as they don't make a Gold Metalizer. Hopefully, I can get to some bodywork later today and get this a little further down the line.

The coupe is starting to actually look like the artwork from the t-shirt. I thought I'd give you a quick update. The Caddy mill from the Revell '49 Merc is a perfect fit for the build. It has the size, bulk and attitude need to truly represent Billetproof. The carbs were upgraded to those from the '50 Ford pickup, the stacks will be replaced with curved units from RMoM. The lower portion of the stock '29 firewall will have to be modified to fit around the Caddy Bell housing. Cut down a Revel grille to see how it would look, other then it could stand to be a bit shorter it fits the concept. With the firewall out of body it doesn't fit as tightly on the chassis so the body rocks on the stopper glued to the inside of the body. As a consequence the rear end is sitting lower in this photo then it will be in the final assembly. Hosted on FotkiThe black line over the rear quarter windows is to mark the location of the rear of the roof insert. For this build I choose the more "stock" configuration and will be using the entire roof insert instead of the insert that is only in the center of the roof as in the '30 kit. The Camel Yellow of the rims is a great color, but I'm not sure about the body being that color as well. I'm starting to think that it might be to much yellow. Your input and comments are always welcome. That's all for now.

As for the color... if you're going to stay with the yellow rims, then maybe a flat/semi-gloss cocoa brown; the color of the powder for making chocolate milk... and a touch of yellow pin striping (Von Dutch style) and loose the roof insert for a filled flat steel roof.

One things for sure it WILL NOT be all yellow. Thanks John, yellow's nice but not that nice.
There a lot of other acceptable colors out there but all yellow doesn't work when it's as close coupled as this coupe is.

I liked the Tamiya TS-33 dull red, that you posted on TRAK.
IMHO it is bright enough to contrast well with the yellow wheels, but not overpower them.

Either the TS-33 Dull Red or the TS-1 Red Brown... which, btw, is the color that I had in my mind's eye after John painted it Chicken Coupe Yellow...
