I think it was the beginning of this here year I was involved in helping to create an old style department store Christmas window display for the art gallery I used to volunteer at. I donated a LGB train layout that we put around a Christmas tree and a bunch of other donated toys with a lot of them for 'Toys for Tots'. I got the idea of making some old time toys for the display-- had ideas and plans for a lot, thinking I was one of Santa's elves ;D ;D, but only finished two.
Always loved this kind of 'race car'-- probably what got me into modeling. This here '26' is cut out of a 2x6. Turned the wheel/tires on my new wood lathe (I gotta get back to it), painted it with some exploding orange paint (lid blew off when I pried it open-- pressure when there shouldn't have been ) and I printed the numbers up on my computer. Had fun 'playing' with it.
Always liked the old tinplate windup tanks, but wasn't about to try and recreate one in metal. Really enjoyed researching for ideas for this here one. Didn't get any pics of it painted, but really enjoyed designing it and building it, playing with the band saw. Hopefully some kids have 'em and are enjoying them.
Later and God bless
Proverbs 3:5-8
Trust in The LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways, acknowledge HIM, and HE will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes, fear The LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
