Any one up for a '40 Ford Community Build Project (CBP)? This was an Idea that a SABA member and I were discussing yesterday at the Inner Club Challenge.
The premise of the CBP is build a '40 Ford any way you want, using "ANY" '40 Ford kit that has ever been produced by one of the kit manufactures or resins producers. Select your victim then build it in any style you choose.
Take the Monogram '40 Pickup and turn it into an Open Cab Fire Engine . Take an AMT '40 Sedan remove the top and replace the roof with a Carson top and make into a wild custom. Not that I think it can be done but build a '40 Coupe factory stock (the thought of it sends shivers down my spine).
You get the idea. The CBP would start at the first of the month and continue for 1 year. The deadline to submit builds would be June 30, 2010. A poll would posted on July 1st and be locked on July 15th with the winner being posted on July 16th. Who knows there my even be a trophy shipped to the winner on July16th.
So, what do you think? Vote your decision.

Thanks for the clarification, Dave. I just went back and re-read the original post MORE CAREFULLY . As usual the answer was right before my eyes . Count me in. I have one big idea and many smaller ones. Let's hope at least one pans out. Don.

I really wanted to cast my vote for: "Dave, Have you lost you mind?" I'm sorry I can't cast my vote for one who may have lost his mind when I have lost mine! I know that this is gona to be a mindless jester, but... count me in!! Lord willing, and if I live so long (2010), my next build will be a focm '40 Ford!!! KK

;D ;D ;D Ah....... the 'Crazies for Christ' come up with a plan! Praise God for how HE helps us continue to grow by challenging us continually to do what we think impossible. At first I think, " But Lord, I already have 3 buildem ups on the bench now, and no idea how I'm gonna get them done!" (just like Moses ) and HE answers, just like HE did Moses, " But, I will be with you...." So cool when we do things with our Father Just so I'm umderstanding you correctly, Crazy Dave ;D.... we start posting WIPs for the CBP in POTB on FOCM starting 7-1-09 (or not?) and then postem up pix of the completed '40 by 6-30-2010 for a 2 week voting period? or am I just imagining all of this? ;D ;D ;D Sounds like fun Dave! Thanks! One turtleyback '40 comin' up Later and God bless

John, you are correct, post where you're starting from and as the build progresses post WIP shots the the finished build by midnight June 30th next year. I will take all the entry photos and add them to a poll which we'll leave open to anyone visiting the site, so it won't be us only voting, then the one entry with the most votes wins.
BTW, what do you mean you have ONLY 3 builds on the bench. Man what a slacker!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
Wes, I almost voted for, "Dave, Have you lost your mind!" as well. But, what's another project to add to the list of the 20 or so that need to be completed.

Thanks the Lord that this gives me another reason to start another project lol

We'd have gone ahead with the CBP with the understanding that you're all as crazy as I am. Nothing would have changed it just would have been official that we're all just a bit off center! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey Fletch-It's 100% so far...when can we start posting pictures ? Let's get through the rest of this week so everyone can line up the kit(s) they want to use and we'll get underway at midnight Sunday the 14th. If you guys are like me that extra 2 weeks will make the difference in whether the build gets completed or not.

Ya know guys, Same show, different channel. I don't know HOW to post pics, and I can only do it when Joy's got the time to walk me thru it! She doesn't come over to show her ol' dad how to use his computer as much as she comes to see her Mom! Needless to say, I couldn't submit pics, but YES! I'm all for the idea! At least if I DO learn how to post all by my lonesome,I'd have something we all could relate to!

George, on each major category there are step-by-step instructions on what needs to be done to post photos from either Photobucket or Fotki. If you are using a different photo share site let me know and I'll do my best to figure out how to go about posting from there.
