Talk about being confused, I thought I had set up the entire board where only registered members could post or reply to postings. Apparently not, anyway no harm no foul.
Then as I read through Larry's post it sounded familiar and I became even more confused. When I checked the posting by Granddad it is the same post by the same Larry. Now I'm seriously confused. Larry, Brother, is everything ok? let us know so we can be praying for you and the situation.
In Christ

Hey Larry, you had me confused there Brother. That is so cool about the Dwarf car. I have been the track Chaplin at our local 1/4 dirt oval for the past few years. There are few places you can go at the track where they don't know who you are and what you stand for. There are just as many sitting around the fire pit at the end of the night talking about God as there are drinking beer. Something about meeting them where they are and not beating them up with scripture.
Even though there are more Christians in racecars as those who are still lost it is a great missionary field. Not only for those behind the wheel but those in the stands. A Christian attitude can do more to defuse a situation then all the words in the dictionary.

I don't know if I have mentioned this or not but I Just have to throw it in~~~~~~~~~~~~ during my series of hospital stays was the one at Richland after one of the heart stopping events and the one that I shall never forget~~~~ Its the story of making a best friend for life and even after~~~~~~~ I was laying in the ICU hospital bed and could not sleep 2 O'Clock in the morning and I was watching TV and thinking of asking the nurse for something to help me relax ~~~~~~~~ suddenly something on the television caught my eye and beamed me i~~~~~~~~~ the speaker had a Mohawk hair cut tattoos to his shoulders wearing a black T shirt boots and black motorcycle pants his words as he spoke cut me deep deeper than I have ever been cut
"Going to church will not get you into heaven, sitting in church with clasped hands will not get you into heaven the only way that you can get into heaven is by making GOD your BEST friend ~~~~~~~~~I started to cry crying so hard that I could not see he was speaking to ME with the IV still connected to my arms climbed out of bed and knelt before the TV / held out my hands and asked the LORD to help me for I knew that I was a sinner ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ well brothers and sisters felt GOD take my hands in his and heard a strong but soothing masculine voice tell me Larry YOU will join me in HEAVEN at the end of time ~~ Your sins are forgiven~~~ I FELT HIS TOUCH and I Heard HIS voice and knew that my life would never be the same~~ God is now a part of me and I preach HIS word where ever I go the end of time is coming and we had better prepare for it
I made GOD my best friend and it was the best thing that I have ever done I was a sinner a SINNER but will not SIN no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise GOD YBIC Larry

The longer I live, since accepting HIM as my Savior, the more I've seen HIS Word acted out. God truly does make what we think impossible--POSSIBLE!!! Yep, when 'WE RUN for CHRIST', HE keeps up going! Congratz, and may you and your team continue to be blessed, for HIS Glory. Later and God bless

I know that racing is really not a christian thing to be engaged in however its all in how one aproches the sport I feel like I can do the most good work concrning our LORD by attending the races and speaking GODs word rather than sitting here at the house twiddle ing my thumbs most people who attend the races wil listen to your words of CHRIST the LORD then will break away with some lame brained excuse mainly because they know that I speak the truth and they cannot handle it However I might have planted a seed that will someday bloom into a beliver go out and preach the word of GOD

Larry, while racing is not what I would consider a Christ centered activity, I wouldn't say it's not a Christian activity. In Matthew 28:19 Christ himself give us the Great Commission to go out and make disciples of the nations and baptize in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey His commands. If the only place you're teaching the Word of God is behind the 4 walls of a Church then the Great Commission isn't being fulfilled. As Jesus himself made very clear in Matthew 9:12 "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." Being a Preachers Kid I have always heard that verse paraphrased as "Preach the Gospel to the lost, as they are the ones perishing.
So, when we as Christians are involved in Non-Christ centered activities and present the Gospel of Christ in such a way as to plant a seed of truth we have followed through with the Great Commission. We are the labors of the field, we get the opportunity to meet people face to face and tell they of the Glory of God and his plan for our Salvation (planting the seed). It is the Holy Spirit who gets to water and nurture the seeds until the time of harvest. We as labors may never get to see the fruits of our labor but if you make the effort to plant the seed rest assured the Holy Spirit will do His job.
Even this silly little hobby is a mission field. Treehugger Dave and I belong to the same model car club. We use our God give skills to preach the Gospel of Christ. It doesn't require beating the guys over the head with the Bible just that one-on-one connection which allows you the opportunity to tell them about Christ.
In Acts 1:8, Christ tell the disciples to return to Jerusalem and wait until they had received the gift His Father had promised. Then they were to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. It is no different with us today we have to be able to witness to "OUR" Jerusalem before we can witness to those at the ends of the earth.
So, if you are directed to the local short track on a Saturday night that looks like Jerusalem to me, be a witness for Christ. It is after all the least we can do for the gift of eternal life given to us.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here but, it's one of those preaching, teaching mornings.

Hey Larry! I've had the same experiences with people I've shared with too. I learned that when they change the subject or break away, that is when God has convicted them-- the seed we were to plant in their life had been planted successfully, and then 'it' was between them and their Creator. Seen it happen too many times, and thankfully, many times later they would come back for more, or to share that they had accepted Christ. Over the years God also revealed to me that HE knows every word each of us has read, or had spoken to us........and when the time is right HE will remind people of those words that HE knows they have heard, or read. HE does so because HE does not give up on any of us. Sadly some of us give up on HIM, but that is the free will thing. In The Bible, in First Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 5, it says this about Love: "........Love does not demand it's own way. ......." All we can do is what God has done for us-- offer HIS Love and Salvation. Just as it was offered to us, we offer it to others, and just as it was our choice to accept it, so too, those 'we' offer it to can choose to accept-- or not. I believe many times, when the seed is planted, it takes some time and 'cultivation' before it sprouts, so we must wait, upon HIS watering and cultivating. In the meantime, we can continue to pray for them, and simply live our Christ centered life in front of them, 'preaching the gospel at all times- using words if neccessary'. Later and God bless.
