My son just called me to tell me that one of his soccer-mates from their high school days (1990's) shot and killed a local police officer, and then shot himself (unclear if he died as a result of other officers gunshots).
Apparently Charlie, 33, had gotten into drugs, and was on the run. Derek, 40, an 18 year veteran, and the K-9 officer was a husband, and father to two kids.
Not a real big community, but tight knit. I lived there for 25+ years. The chief of police met with both families, and asked for prayers for all involved.
I'm asking the same.
