Is the red stripe paint or tape? It's purrfect! Later and God bless John, I missed your question about the strip when I read through your post the first time. The red stripe is decal stripping. I went to the local Model RR shop (LMRRS) and got Walther's red decal stripping. It is suppose to be 1" wide in 1/87th or HO scale which would make it about 1/4" wide in 1/25th scale. It's amazing how a single stripe can break up a solid colored body and change the entire look of a build. After seeing how the Sedan Delivery turned out with the stripe I agree with KK the Hi-Boy needs a stripe to separate the upper and lower half of the body. I may well go to the LMRRS tomorrow and find some white or light gray stripping to add to Teal Sedan.

Cool, Dave! Neat idea using 1/87 scale striping for 1/4" stripes on a 1/25 . Just 'big' enuff to see and makes such a difference. Thank God for Brothers! Good ol' Kit done give you an excellent excuse to make another trip to the LMRRS... ;D ;D, but may I suggest a purple color against that teal? I love the flattie in this sedan delivery! Can't wait to see it plumbed up some. You leaving the 'heads' (the finned part-- never thought of what 'xcactly they're called ).......you leaving them red? Any info on that induction system? It is way cool Later and God bless

Any info on that induction system? It is way cool Later and God bless Actually, by the time the heads are finished only the valleys between the fins will remain red. All the raised portions and sides of the heads will get painted with Alclad II Polished Aluminum which will get buffed out to add a bit of shine. As for the induction I'm going to have to do a bit of research to find how it should be plumbed and at least make it look plausible (got to love the words you learn from watching Mythbusters). I'll post what the 1:1 looks like then see how close I can get in 1/25th. Blessings

Here is what I've managed to find on the FuelInjection System on the flathead. I have not been able to locate any EFI system that looks l.ike the one in the AMT '41 Woodie. With as many home brew EFI systems out there who knows if it's 100% accurate in the first place. What I have found is that the nubs sticking up from the manifold are the individual injectors. The runners above then should be smooth not as AMT has them, simple enough to correct just smooth the runners. The closest EFI that I found has a single throttle body where the AMT unit uses a double throttle body. Here is a photo showing a EFI w/single Throttle Body and the photo of the engine in the Sedan Delivery. The photo of the 1:1 should give you an idea of how the model unit should look. Hosted on Fotki

Man Dave! this SD just keeps lookin' better all the time! That paint job sets everything off. Have to see this and yer '50 pu together sometime That is quite an interesting setup, the pic of the 1:1 EFI, but I think we all prefer the doubles-- right guys?! Looking forward to seeing it plumbed out. Really oughta be in a rod with no hood or side panels, but I can just imagine some peeps at a show seein' it with the hood closed.... ...and THEN! with no hood! "What is that?!" Don't know what is is 'bout this one-- I could just go on and on about it Later and God bless

The further I get into the build of the 3rd of the '32 Sedans the more I am looking at possible styling changes. So, I have a couple of questions for you guys. Would you leave the roof solid, like it had been filled or would you open it up like the insert were removed? On the front axle would you leave it be using the stock '32 crossmember or hang it out the front using a suicide mount? What do you think on both questions as I'm somewhat torn on both so I'm seeking your input. Here's some update shots of the chopped/channeled Sedan: Here's what the chassis looks like sans the body. The rear end has been widened to allow the tires to sit outside the body and will be mounted on a 4 link suspension. The rear of the chassis is set so if need be I can "C" notch it to drop the back end down even further. Hosted on FotkiLooking forward to your input.

hmmmmmm.......well Dave, I'm partial to the suicidey front axle, but wondering if you're gonna move it waaaaay up to the front of the frame, extending the wheelbase a good bit-- not that it would be too much. I do think the look would benefit by a bit longer wheelbase-- give a little more looky-see room for the engine. As fer the roof, I say cut it-- if you got plans on showing off interior stuffs, otherwise leave it filled. Color might have something to say about it too, coz tha's a lot of sheet metal. Later and God bless

Thank you all for your input. There was several responses that wanted the roof opened up and only a couple calling for a suicide front end. After a short bout with the circular saw blade in the Dremel here is what it now looks like: The front frame horns have been thinned in preparation for "unboxing" them. The next step is to reduce the height by .010 on the top and bottom which will allow the upper and lower frame rail to be added using .010X.156 Evergreen. I posted photos of the engine for the Sedan Delivery over on the MCM forum indicating the modern fuel induction system I proposed to use. One of the members mentioned that he had a problem with the EFI system as the fuel runners were hanging in mid air with no connection to the manifold. His statement validated how I was beginning to feel about the EFI from the '41 Woodie. This evening the EFI got popped off the flathead and hopefully the scratch building effort over the next few days will result in something that looks like this. Hosted on FotkiThanks guys for your input. What do you think of the roof on the chopped/channeled version now that it's opened up?

The last of the 3 Sedans is moving forward slowly, yesterday when I was doing some research for a future '32 3 Window Coupe project, I discovered that the 1:1 that the last Sedan is being loosely modeled from actually has a 390 Ford FE engine with 6 carbs. I did a quick inventory and found nothing in the garage or parts box the was a "390". However, a 427 is the same block with a different bore and stroke, and there just happened to be a Thunderbolt that gave up a lot of it's other parts for misc builds. So, we're gooing to change horses in mid stream so to speak and get a little closer to the 1:1 even thought it is a '30 Sedan. This is where the real fun could begin, it would sure through a lot of people off that's for certain, that is except you Aussies. Hosted on FotkiA tire and wheel change may still be in order, we shall see. All this change and it needs to be ready for a show on the 27th.
