Rejoice with me Brothers! I finally finished one! ;D ;D ;D
Presenting "Lavender Louise", the purple piggie.
Old 51 Chevy Bel Aire that I had scored in a couple boxes of parts I got last year from my LHS. I planned a fairly quick easy build of it (don't we all : but/and figured a little chop would be nice.......... famous last words ;D ;D
Them little tailights are 2mm faceted jewels from Michaels. The bumpers were de-chromed and sprayed with Duplicolor Chrome. The rear window was made from some clear plastic that was covering a pruner I got.
Caddy grille with a couple amber 4mm jewels behind it for turn signal lights. Dechromed them ugly headlight bezels & painted them body color, which is rattlecan made by Valspar, some kind of craft paint with a satin finish, also from Michaels. I wanted to replicate the flat, primer looking lavender I saw some sleds sporting maybe 10--15 years ago. As the satin finish wasn't 'flat' enough, I rubbed that bit of 'shine' off with a ScotchBrite pad.
I had given the original straight 6 to a buddy over on MCM for his salts flat 29'r roadster, and had to use the Stovebolt 6 out of the '37 Chevy. Turns out the Stovebolt is taller than the 235, (at least with that stock oil bath air cleaner- ;D) hence the reason for the hole in the hood, and the scoop. Just another way to replicate the way we used to at least try to make our 1:1 rides 'look' cool & fast ;D ;D
Did a little detailing on the 6, practising for the future.
My favorite shot of Louise , again, the side pipes are fake ( ) just like we used to do back in them days. I fabbed them up from some short ones out of the '55 Chevy Cameo kit, with sprue from the 1/8 Big Deuce to extend them.
It was a lot of fun work, feels good to finally finish it. Here's the link to the WIP pix in my Fotki:
