Dr. Richard Woods was my personal Doctor before I transferred to Mayo Clinic. He treated my runny nose etc. We became friends when we shared we were Christians. Later after He became ill with cancer we prayed together. Then I was diagnosed with Kidney cancer. I told him I was going to go to Mayo Clinic for care and he agreed that was a good decision as he was going to turn his practice over to another Doctor as his health wasn't very good. I will never forget what he said next. " Chip, you and I are very fortunate to have Cancer" I looked at him in total disbelief and said "What?" he explained we both have the personailty to smile when things aren't going our way. We can glorify Jesus by showing the world just how much HE loves us even when we are dying. As The scripture in Phillipians says. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Dr. Woods decided to end the chemo after it stopped helping. He decided to regain his health and spend the rest of his time with Family and friends sadly He passed away. I have tears of sadness for losing him and tears of Joy for he is Home. peace and blessings, Pastor Chip

Pastor Chip, our condolences on the passing of Richard. Even in this time of loss, God is giving us comfort and strength to carry on. And you are right We can do all things through Him who gives us strength.
Continually, give Him all the Praise and Glory

Continually, give Him all the Praise and Glory Our Great Healer has brought hope to those in despair; Comforts those in need; Brings Joy and Sadness to those who love others... All so we may give Praise in His Name for the Life that only He gives and takes away. We are the face of God in front of others who may not know Him; we are the voice of Christ to those who may not hear Him; we are the Holy Spirit here on earth to show those who may not have experienced It that we abide in Christ. My condolences as well Chip. I know what it is to 'lose' a friend, as I experienced those same tears of sadness, and joy, when my sister in Christ, Karen, went Home a couple years ago. It is a kind of weird, but wonderful, feeling that I don't miss her. I know where she is, and I'll be seeing her, as well as your friend Dr. Woods, and many others There. How wonderful it is that HE blesses us with friends like Richard and Karen, and the peaceful knowledge that we will see them again! Karen's face used to simply glow when she spoke of JESUS. She went quickly after coming down with Lou Gehrig's disease, and became totally disabled. I know her face is glowing and she is hugging JESUS now. Looking forward to seeing her again, and your friend Richard one day. Take care and may God bless
