I received an email late yesterday telling me to Crease and Desist fronting the Artwork in my Fotki account as me being the artist and selling the artwork and thus stealing and ripping off the actual artist. I didn't know the person who sent me the email so I responded asking who they were and what the whole thing was about. It seems that someone was surfing my Fotki account and ran across the albums of artwork. Granted most of the stuff is either from Jairus Watson or Keith Weesner, both of which have given permission to use their artwork for challenge builds that are currently going on.
It seems that the person who started this whole thing took offense to the fact that Fotki offers anything on the site to be printed on t-shirts, coffee mugs etc. The person who initially contacted me was one of the artists who this person emailed to let him know I was "representing" myself as the artist and selling his artwork. When he went to Fotki he of course found out that was not the case. He replied to my email letting me know who the originator of the email was. They are a member of HAMB and have a website of their own. I sent them an email on HAMB noting that I doubted they had contacted Rod & Custom about displaying photos from the magazine on his Commercial website. Of course as I expected I have yet to get a reply from them as they are displaying the atypical internet attitude of 'I can flame you and have no recourse.
I have posted a message on HAMB with the link to my Artwork Album on Fotki offering any artist who feels that they are being ripped off, by a model builder who thinks enough of their artwork to want to build it, to contact me and I will remove their artwork from the album.
Keep you friends close and your enemies closer.
Blessings
