Was wanting to fab up some rods or whatever for supporting the hood, but realized I gotta fab up a firewall first, and even before that I gotta get the interior squared away........ so...... The way the interior in the Switcher kit is, with the tranny hump and front end with a firewall backer, it's too narrow for the body, leaving a noticeable gap between the tops of the doors and the door panels. Cut away the front so I could spread the interior walls tight up against the body shell. Did some 'damage' to the seat-- gonna have some horsehair sticking thru the rip in the upholstrey-- and glued it in and clamped it. Didn't want to try that with the body painted, so I'll be doing some masking later. While leaving the tubs to set up, set about shaving the edges down on the 'hood', trying to make it appear more sheet metal-ly. I daresay I got it looking a bit more sheet metal-ly now. Got a book from the library for reference on more cool tractor grilles, and saw these here type 'bumpers' Gonna be fabbing one up for here. Also seems a snow plow is gonna be in the works as a couple buddies on MCM kinda suggested it. Might have to (almost) make 2 seperate 'rods'-- one like this here and the same one actually, but with winter type tires on the back with the snow plow up front, and weight of some type in the rear so much for the no scratchbuildin' Later and God bless

Well Ed, thanky thanky fer the kind words. I've been asked the same thing by the peeps at the Art Center that I've been a part of for the past 5 or so years-- maybe one o' these days . I've been sayin' that "Art isn't really art unless, and until you share it" and I guess until The Lord says differerntly I'll just be sharing it thisaway. I just hopes I don't winds up cuttin' me ear off or anything Took me a break from sloppin' watercolours on illustration boards to do a li'l relaxing at the bench yesterday with this here OOB Rod. Found a sheet of 1/24 scale plywood in the barn here and layed it out on the frame. Got it cut to fit, but had to step it up over one of the crossmembers. Slabbed up a firewall..... ....then looked thru the pile of 49 Merky parts & figured the exhaust pipes might make some good hood supports. Whacked 'em & stacked 'em....... ....and welded 'em in place, threw the hood on and lookin' good. Cut a hole for the stack/air cleaner......mebbe get us a nice big chrome air cleaner on payday Looks like it's gonna line up ok Still aint sure how else we're gonna secure the hood other than that air cleaner Later and God bless

John, not meanin to nit pick but Ford Motors for 49 were a copper color , Mercury motors were a mossy Green . The six cylinder motors that came out in 52 were indeed Red with Black valve covers . Meanwhile the Ford division went back to the mossy Green in 1950 and 51,3 too . Ed Shaver
